National Projects Manager
Mark first started out his career in 1996 as an Architectural Technician, before starting a role at Leeds City Council supervising their in-house asbestos removal department. Mark managed various departmental stocks which included health, social services, education, public housing along with the well-publicised Armley asbestos disaster, which involved the contamination of around 2,000 houses, schools, park etc. in a large inner city suburb of city. The contamination was the result of the activities of a local asbestos factory which eventually closed its doors in 1959. Following that Mark moved to a consultancy firm within Sydney Australia, where he has familiarized himself with the range of legislative requirements which exist in each state and territory and has become well versed in the range of industry codes, standards and methodologies as a result of his extensive project experience. During Mark’s time in Australia he has been involved with contaminated sites, emergency response plans, and the preparation of Asbestos Management Plans for Government, Industrial and Commercial organisations. Recently Mark returned to the contracting side of the business, where he now manages major projects nationally for GBAR.
